I really was looking forward to getting an artist alley table at Katsucon. I know its a relatively large con and would be good for networking (and hopefully profit)
However, Katsucon apparently doesn't let people in their artist alley sell items like... keychains, clothing, accessories, etc. All of the other things and I usually do to make some extra money are not allowed - only prints and commissions.
And while at cons, the majority of what I do for profit is drawing commissions (Which are fun don't get me wrong) I don't know if my art is strong enough to rely 100% on JUST Prints and commissions.
You might be asking, "what? you can't sell other goods?" well apparently you can but... it's in something that's pretty much a "craft corner" and if you're in the "craft corner" you can't sell commissions or anything of that sort. While I like making and selling merchandise (especially when people buy clothing I make... <3 <3 <3) I know that itself would again.... probably not even break even.
So I don't even know what to do. Part of me would like an artist alley table. I really always love meeting people who watch me on deviantart, meeting and making new artist friends, and networking. But it's kind of hard when I'm a poor college student and cons sometimes help me get by financially.
It's definitely not ALL for the money, it's a lot of fun to do and I enjoy the people more than the money. But money is a definite factor in it, which is kind of sad.
I have no Idea what to do. Should I even try?
Lets be honest, do you think I could - at the minimum break even - with my art if I just did prints and commissions?
On the other hand, the anime club at my university is going so... I could have a huge group of people to walk around with.
I had so much fun at this weekend's con! A-Usa was a successful artist alley table, I broke even and then made some. :3 hehe <333
Thank you to everyone who stopped by, talked, picked up a business card, or bought something from me I really appreciate it!
and I weren't even sure we were going to get a table. *_*;;; she stayed at the con ALL day just to make sure we could get an extra one if there were any~
I got to see some familiar faces Someone actually invited me to be an artist / do a panel at a con. I hope they contact me soon >w<;
And over all, im just happy!
*_* This has been an ally-short con-report! good night!

!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!*!
Wow wow wow @_@;; Where DOES the time fly!?! It is almost time for thanksgiving break, so I guess it's time I actually updated huh?
First off, I apologize for the lack of updates. Unlike last year - I actually have friends at school so... usually a lot of my free time is taken up by my friends. (However, not complaining!)
TwT however, this leaves the people who actually watch me / read my journals a bit lacking. ;o; Ally apologizes.
Right now classes have been going well, sophomore year is harder than freshman year, but it looks like overall this is going to be a good semester. We FINALLY had our first project to hand in last week for our fashion class, so when I get it back i'll be sure to take and put up photos. (It was a tote bag.)
Right now im fashion class we're learning how to make "Slopers" which are patterns / clothes on a dress form. I'm so excited to finally be learning something @__@; It's a little more trickier than my usual sewing shenanigans, but the fit overall is much better..... I likes it, i'll be sure to take photos of that too
~*~*~ As for art wise, i'm sure some of you have noticed the comic I put up. I actually have at least 9 more pages of that to come, so hopefully i'll stick to this so I Can regularly update.
For those of you who haven't seen, you caaannnnn click here: [link] <--- and read page one. Links to the next pages are in the comments section.
An De Musik was my friend's idea. He knew I was looking for something to do, but I was having trouble starting on strange misfortunes. So he recommended making a comic about our friends on campus, However... since i'm doing those animated shorts that relate to campus friends, I decided to do a shoujo - but here and there my friends are in the comic.
Leah is actually my friend and her boyfriend (who will appear later) ferb is actually, since personalities worked out for what I needed. TwT;; Thank you, you two for always helping and inspiring meee~!
uh uh uh uh uh uh.... so yes. Hopefully this will help strengthen my comic skills, so i'll finally feel confident to start on one of my actual story lines. I don't really expect this comic to go super far, but we'll see. HOpefully you'll enjoy it. ^_^
#&#&#&# Speaking of animated shorts! I AM going to be doing them. I actually finished the first one, but i'm waiting for my friend to do voice acting with me. hopefully... that will be soon.
hopefully it'll be a weekly ... more realistically a biweekly thing, especially because i'm trying to focus on working on comic skills.
Lastly... ummm..
I DONT KNOW @__@;;;; uh uh uh.. holy crap its almost thanksgiving?! :3
Thats about it right now. :3 sorry for the constant lack of updates. But I am thinking of everyone ;o; and i'm sorry!
*OH RIGHT I FORGOT* SO, the other day I entered a singing contest here at school, and I got in! So if I CAN, I will try to get someone to record so I can put that up so we can all poke fun at my bad singing ^^ yes yes.
OK! Thats all for now folks ^^ Thanks for all of the watches, faves, and constant support. ^3^ *mwah!*
